Hoshino (星野 Hoshino) was a part of Class B in the elementary section, but left Gakuen Alice, since his Weather Alice was the Childhood Shape.
Hoshino is a quiet and anti-social person, so Mikan didn't know he's in Class B or in her Special Ability class until they tell her. He doesn't speak, relying on writing down his thoughts. He writes down to everyone not to be sad about his departure and that he's happy to finally see his parents. His goal was to create a rainbow with a Weather Alice stone he kept. As farewell gifts, Class B learns how to create Alice stones to give them to Hoshino. He doesn't accept Mikan's Alice stone, because he thinks it belongs to someone else (Natsume Hyūga). Before his departure, Hoshino's parents appear not to be coming, since he didn't recieve letters. Sumire says that those who lose their Alices are shameful, since they become 'normal'. Also, because his parents aren't getting money, then they most likely won't come. On the day he leaves the academy, his parents do come and his mother is seen running to him and appears ill, explaning why no letters were sent. As he leaves Gakuen Alice, a beautiful rainbow appears across the sky.
Hoshino's Alice is Childhood Shape, so he doesn't have his Alice now. His Alice is a Weather Alice which affects the area around him corresponding with his feelings. For example, when he is sad, it rains and when he is happy, sun shines. When he is somber, it becomes cloudy and when he is angry, there is lightning. If he is in a blissful mood, a rainbow is created.
- Although mostly there isn't any stars on his collar, there is one time that Hoshino is seen with three stars, meaning he's a Triple. But this is impossible since it has been stated that there are only three Triple in the Elementary Division: Hotaru, Ruka and Yū.
- In chapter 72, he is seen sitting beside Tono when Mikan was asking about the Alice stone.
